End of life care
End of life care supports people with advanced progressive illnesses to live as well as possible until they die, and to die with dignity.
End of life care includes palliative care. This is used to help control pain and other distressing symptoms through different techniques, such as psychological, spiritual and social support.
The NHS will cover the cost of all the care provision.
There may be a cost for any social care services that are provided as part of the support package.
Your first step should be to contact your GP or hospital consultant. They will be able to look at your needs and refer you to the most appropriate team.
Find you nearest GP or hospital on the NHS Choices website.
