Calm Parents, Calm Children course

This free course is aimed at parents/learners who would like to increase their knowledge and skills in parenting. This course is aimed at parents who would like to have a healthy relationship with their own anger and model this for their children. It will enable parents to learn and use the six rules of anger management when dealing with their own anger or with that of other family members.  It will allow you, as a parent/carer to the sources of their own anger, handle them and to help their children do the same.

 This course aims to equip parents to stay calm in challenging family situations and to apply effective solutions

Course Information:

This is not an accredited course. However, if you complete 80% attendance you will receive an attendance certificate from the tutor at the end of the course. You will learn how to

 

  • identify the triggers to challenging behaviours
  • encourage calm behaviour in yourself and in your child
  • communicate effectively
  • identify the keys to managing stress and other main sources of anger
  • reflect on behaviour and take relevant action
  • use praise as a discipline method
  • set and keep boundaries
  • identify the role of feelings and of needs in parenting calmly

 The course takes place on:

Thursdays 9.30-11.30 for 5 weeks at Queens Road Community Centre starting Thursday 6th June and running every Thursday until 4th July

Notes

Please book your course at the nearby Queens Road Centre at 97 Queens Road. The centre is open from 9.00am to 9.00pm Monday to Thursdays, and 9.00am to 3.30pm on Fridays and Saturdays in term time. In school holiday periods the centre is open 9.00am to 5.00pm Monday to Thursdays and 9.00am to 3.30pm Fridays (excluding bank holidays)
