NHS NELFT - Health Visitor Service
The Health Visitor team consisting of Health Visitors, other trained nurses, nursery nurses and health care support workers offer a universal health service for all children aged between 0-5 years old. They offer support and advice to all parents and carers on topics such as the health and growth, nutrition and immunisations, giving advice on different aspects of parenting.
Health Visitors will carry out a series of health and development reviews for children at different ages to ensure early identification of a child’s needs and work to safeguard and protect children in order to help them reach their full potential. They are able to offer you support and advice if your child has a disability or additional health needs. They can also support parents and carers with their own issues such as relationship difficulties, depression or concerns about alcohol or drug use. They work in close partnership with other agencies such as local Children’s centres, GPs, Children’s Social Care and midwives and are able to signpost and refer you to other sources of support and help.
Each child has a named health visitor who can support with any of the above areas. They may visit you at home or ask you attend your local clinic to see them. To contact a health visitor please ring the numbers below.
