NHS NELFT - Children's Community Physiotherapy Team
The Children’s Community Physiotherapy Team provides specialist physiotherapy assessment, advice and intervention to children who have longer term difficulties or conditions which affect their movement, motor development and function.
If indicated, following physiotherapy assessment, a referral is made for specialist paediatric orthotic assessment, advice, provision and monitoring of orthoses (e.g. splints, specialist footwear, helmets, etc).

Referrals are accepted from professionals in health, education or social care. A Specialist Children's service referral form must be completed (accompanied by a completed Common Assessment Framework(CAF) assessment where appropriate) and signed consent from parent/guardian to share information must be provided.
Children with neurological/neuromuscular conditions and children presenting with any of the following; abnormal muscle tone, motor disorders or delay, foot issues effecting foot posture/walking, loss of, or deteriorating, range of movement, oncology or palliative care needs, non-acute congenital or orthopaedic presentations, for example, torticollis, talipes, brachial plexus palsy, arthritic conditions, children who require rehabilitation in the community (where needs cannot be met by acute services) for example, complex orthopaedic surgery.
