St Joseph's Catholic Infant School

School

St Josephs is a place where children are provided with an excellent education in a safe and stimulating environment and where their welfare needs are known and planned for.  Everything we do is overlaid with a Catholic perspective and gives us a distinctive ethos.  Everyone matters, everyone is respected, parents, children and staff, everyone helps, prays, works and takes care of each other.

The staff team are continually exploring innovative practices that will make our school an even more dynamic, relevant and proactive community of Christians dedicated to improving the educational opportunities for all children in the school.

Our community is inclusive and the learning experiences we offer are created to engage, excite and challenge.  All children are expected to ‘reach for the stars’ and ‘be the best they can be’.  The Catholic faith is very much at the centre of our school life.  The common values and morals we share and that are promoted through our school life give us all a world perspective which is evident in the social justice projects we take part in.

Our children follow the National Curriculum, which is brought to life through a variety of theme days, visits, theatre performances and creative projects.  The school is not a 9.00am-5.00pm enterprise, it offers breakfast provision, a wide menu of after school clubs from street dance to cookery, and in the past year has also offered holiday activity days.

Parental involvement is strong, parents support the homework programmes, act as volunteers on educational visits, and are often in school during the day helping with a wide range of tasks.

The academic standards children achieve are very good and often above the National expectation.  A strong work ethic is promoted in all aspects of learning and combined with positive social attitudes and mutual support.

We want all our children to achieve all they can and to enjoy achieving all they can by the age of 7 years.

Nursery with Free Early Education places is available at this school.
