Deborah Smith

Hello, my name is Debbie. I'm a mother and also a grandmother to twelve special grandchildren.

I offer a diverse setting where your child will be encouraged to learn and develop through lots of fun and exciting activities, within a warm and stimulating environment. I'm here to make sure that your child is nurtured in a safe and positive environment. within this setting where their own individual personality and way of learning is tailored to so that they are able to play, grow and develop at their own pace.

I offer a wide range of activities and resources to help develop all seven areas of learning. I use spaces within my home and outdoors, as I feel outdoor play is very important to children as it helps develop their knowledge and understanding of the world. I also feel that it brings them closer to nature.

As well as providing learning opportunities at home, I will also attend a range of local groups and drop-ins within the local community. These include; Chapel End Early Years (toys, equipment, sensory room, arts and craft and outdoor play), Wymead Children's Centre (toys and equipment, arts and craft, sand and water play and visits from NHS Healthy Eating, Waltham Forest Dental Care). Outings - Children;s Story Centre - Discover - Stratford, V&A Museum of Childhood, Kidspace, Libraries, Parks, forests, Soft Play, Messy Play Sessions and Farms. I feel that a combination of all of these will help to develop a child's confidence and social skills, which will also enhance their learning.

Some of the activities that I offer are; home corner, sensory corner, soft play equipment, books, learning numbers / alphabet, puzzles, threading toys, lego, stickel bricks, farm set, small world sea creatures, play dough, sticking and gluing, painting, stencils, chalks and crayons, soft toys for babies, singing nursery rhymes, dancing and musical instruments.

I offer nutritious and healthy home cooked food daily which is inspired by the Early Years Cookbook. I also offer lots of healthy snacks and fresh water which is available at all times. I work in partnership with parents to understand if your child has any preferences / dietary requirements or allergies, so that I can tailor my menus to meet all children's needs. I'm also happy if you wish to provide your own food.

As a registered childminder I work within the Early Years Foundation Stage framework (EYFS). Its my duty to keep children in my care safe at all times and help children learn and develop to the best of their ability and to build their self confidence. As a childminder, I will do all the above and more to ensure any child in my care develops into the best they can be.

As well as raising my own children, I worked within a nursery for twelve years but in August 1995 I became a registered child minder, qualified by London Borough of Waltham Forest, registered by Social Services. In July 2004 I attended a Cache Level 3 course in Child-minding Practice and then 2009 I went on to complete my Cache Level 3 Diploma's 2-5.
