Lammas School and Sixth Form

We are on our journey to being an outstanding school, and we believe we provide an exciting, innovative and challenging education while we serve a fantastically diverse student population.

What does it mean to attend Lammas and what do we stand for?

  • we believe in our responsibility to all children, and to the ‘whole child’. If we don’t attend to the emotional and social needs of children, we cannot support their academic progress
  • we believe in education as the tool for our young people to open doors to their futures and to enable them to influence their world
  • we promote and develop learning that is artistic, creative, practical, sporting, emotional, and academic – and are proud of all of these
  • we are open to change – and take part in innovation
  • we believe there is no greater route to success than through partnership, between adults and students, within the school, between our school and others

What does this look like?  We enter children for exams when they are ready, we start GCSE courses in Year 9 so that there is plenty time to succeed, and we build very positive relationships across all year groups through our Vertical Tutoring system.  Our Super Learning Days create memorable occasions for students and our commitment to community cohesion is second to none, meaning that we provide many different ways in which our students lead and learn to take on responsibility. Our specialism in Sport is used to provide additional opportunities for students as well as links across the curriculum.

Our journey continues, and it continues into a new phase. We now have a history on which we can build and a heart that drives us. As we go forward, we need to ensure that every single child finds their talents, is helped to develop them, feels proud of their successes, and fulfilled by them. This means that each student has their gifts and talents nurtured, their interests extended and their learning supported.

We want to continue to play our part in our local community as well as provide wider experiences for our students through our international work. We are thrilled that we are now able to begin really meaningful partnerships with schools across the world, beginning with Langoni School in Zanzibar, Tanzania.  We want to use our home in East London as an advantage as we continue to grow.

We are lucky to have such wonderfully dedicated, passionate and committed staff who work very hard to make sure that every child achieves their very best.

If you have not yet had a chance to visit us during a working day, you are very welcome to do. Please contact us and we will be happy to arrange this.
